    RACI Times

Newsletter for Rolando & Associates Consulting, Inc.

Our site and our newsletter will work hand in hand to keep our clients up to date with emerging technologies that could help streamline your businesses.

TAKE YOUR OFFICE, YOUR BUSINESS PRESENTATION AND YOUR CORPORATE WEB SITE WITH YOU WHEREVER YOU GO WITH A HAND-HELD COMPUTER

Technology is helping businesses today like never before. Imagine yourself meeting a stranger at a networking function. They ask what you do and instead of delivering the standard corporate rhetoric, you wow them with a full video and sound presentation. Imagine having your best idea ever occur to you in freeway traffic. Instead of fumbling for writing materials and risking your life, simply press the record button on your hand-held and capture your idea. Better yet your family is out and baby says it's first words. Press record and you have it forever. Imagine a prospect asking if you were available 6 Wednesdays from now on his next visit. Give him the answer in 10 seconds. Imagine your flight is diverted to an old friends home town. Their unlisted phone number is on a sticky note in your desk drawer. Wait a minute, I have my hand-held!! Imagine talking to your kids from your hotel room and looking at your latest pictures downloaded from your digital camera. Imagine having 15 Best Selling books on you at all times, minus the weight. Don't like to read? Listen to Audio Books. Get bored with that - listen to music. Still not enough, watch a movie.

Like what you see? We haven't scratched the surface.

    SPOTLIGHT ON BUSINESS

    Caldeco Mechanical Services, Inc:
We would like to thank Rick Caldevilla for the opportunity to assist his organization in modernizing and enhancing the functionality of his company's Web-Site.
Caldeco provides complete heating and air conditioning services for homes and businesses in the Tampa Bay area.
When completed the site will most effectively promote his company's products and services and give potential clients insight into the Caldeco organization and his staff.

YBOR Entertainment: Our thanks also go out to Gary Menke & Todd Leinenbach for allowing us to develop the most highly interactive comedian showcase Web Site on the Net today.
YBOR Entertainment is a full service Comedy and Music Booking Agency. They also offer full service Catering.
From this site you may view the comedians full size head shot, audio / video clip, official Web Site and read their bio. You can also book the comedian on-line. The intense audio / video work on this site was great fun for us.

    ALERTS!

Identity Theft: When you receive spam (unsolicited e-mail on the Internet) and choose to unsubscribe either with their included option or by sending them an email requesting to be removed in the subject line, be aware that most spammers use your removal request as a validation of your existence and in turn, sell your validated email address to other solicitors. Simply delete any unsolicited email. By not responding to spammers, the value of your email address is significantly reduced.

To assist in the fight against spam you can go to http://www.ftc.gov/ and click on File a Complaint.

Virus: Computer viruses are at an all time high. Please take the necessary steps to protect your data. Make sure you have the latest virus protection software updated weekly on all of your computers. Call us for assistance or questions.

A Clear Case for Dusting Your Computer: One of the most common reasons for poor performance of a computer is improper dissipation of heat. One of the best cures for this problem is to have your PC cleaned at least once a year. Many manufacturers are selling clear computer cases, for mostly aesthetic reasons, which will allow you to see the dust that has built up on your computer parts. The cleaner your computer, the faster it will operate.

    COOL TECHNOLOGY

Entertainment Goes High Tech Minus the Entertainer: A local nightclub has purchased a completely automated entertainment computer system. This system can play music, mix music, play music videos including karaoke, control lighting effects, ambiance, take requests and almost anything else imaginable without the assistance of the DJ.
Will this technology replace live entertainers? Not anytime soon. A computer can not yet gauge crowd reaction, or adjust accordingly. Thank God!

PDA (personal digital assistant) is a term for any small mobile hand-held device that provides computing and information storage and retrieval capabilities for personal or business use, often for keeping schedule calendars and address book information handy. The term handheld is a synonym. Many people use the name of one of the popular PDA products as a generic term. These include Hewlett-Packard's Palmtop and 3Com's PalmPilot.

Most PDAs have a small keyboard. Some PDAs have an electronically sensitive pad on which handwritng can be received. Apple's Newton, which has been withdrawn from the market, was the first widely-sold PDA that accepted handwriting. Typical uses include schedule and address book storage and retrieval and note-entering. However, many applications have been written for PDAs. Increasingly, PDAs are combined with telephones and paging systems.

    TECH TIPS & TRICKS

    Q. I made a mistake and can't "undo"
    A. Hold down the CONTROL key and hit Z.

    Q. I'm trying to align images on a page and can't seem to get it just right.
    A. Go to "View" Ruler. This puts a ruler on the page that can aid in alignment.

    Q. You visited a great Website in the past few weeks but can't remember where it was and you forgot to put it in favorites.
    A. On your browser, click the "History" button. A list of recently visited sites will appear on the left. To close the list, click "History" again.

    Q. You need to do a little math but can't find a pencil!
    A. Click the Start Button, go to Programs, then Accessories. There is an onscreen calculator at your fingertips.

    Q. There are quite a few figures to add in an Excel spread sheet, and the calculator is too cumbersome for this task.
    A. Highlight the cells down to ONE cell past the last number, then click the key. This will automatically sum your column of numbers.
